Victor Wembanyama ruled out vs. Blazers due to left rib contusion

Victor Wembanyama has been officially ruled out of the game against the Blazers due to a rib contusion he suffered against the Philadelphia 76ers over the weekend. Wembanyama collided with Sixers forward Paul George in the first half of the game and was subsequently ruled out for the second half of the contest.

In his third season in the league, Wembanyama is averaging 24.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 3.1 blocks and 1.0 steal per performance for the Spurs.

After the game against Portland, the Spurs will have two regular season games remaining – against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night and the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night.

Wembanyama needs to play at least 20 minutes in one of those two games in order to maintain his award and All-NBA eligibility for the current campaign, which he’s expected to do.
